Increasing recreational demands led to the establishment of Brundage Mountain Ski Area and Ponderosa State Park, both near McCall, in the1960s. The temperatures is measured at the intake pipes about 1500 feet offshore at a approximate depth of 35 feet. The drainage originates in the Sawtooth and Salmon River Mountains and flows southwesterly until it empties into the Snake River near Payette, Idaho.
